Seeking to hire a Biomaterials Research Associate for a long-term contract/contract-to-hire opportunity in Chicago.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will work with senior scientists on finishing efforts
- Responsible for finishing approximately 20-50/square feet a week of material using custom chemistry formulations developed in-house
- Take direction around DOE work and process development work on the finishing workstreams
- Ability to juggle numerous complex variables such as equipment calibration/function, process development, surface uniformity, thickness, color, performance, formulations, etc.

Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Applications/Materials Science, providing a strong foundation in analytical thinking and problem-solving
- Experience as a Spray Finish/Roll Coating Technician/Associate in another industry or similar role a plus
- Knowledge of different spray/coating finishing techniques, equipment, and chemistries a plus
- Familiarity with color theory and color matching principles a plus
- Strong attention to detail, which is necessary to produce consistent, high-quality finishes
- Understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to handling finishing materials and operating spray/coating equipment a plus
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Communication skills to address issues that may arise during the finishing process
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines
- Ability to work well with ambiguity
