Lab Technician

Seeking a Lab Technician for a contract opportunity in Chicago, IL working with the product development of novel food products. This individual will have the ability to aid in the creation of vegan dairy products from concept to commercialization.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receiving, labeling and safely storing ingredients and samples to be tested
• Performing benchtop, and pilot scale, experiments, and analyses and then reporting the results
• Understand all equipment and processes used to create each sample product
• Discussing and answering any questions regarding the results
• Organizing and storing samples to ensure the safety of personnel and the integrity of the sample
• Managing sanitization and maintenance of lab and equipment, including recalibration of equipment
• Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs
• Preparing samples, packing, and shipping them

• Duration: 6+ Months

• AS in math, chemistry, or science
• Previous experience in a product development lab or pilot plant
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Comfortable working in a start-up environment
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and influence technical direction
• Self-motivated

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in cultured products
• BS in food science, math, chemistry, or related field
