Engineering Project Manager now sought for a Direct Hire role in Malvern, PA or Joliet, IL. This opportunity is with a major specialty chemical manufacturer; offering outstanding compensation, benefits, and relocation assistance.
Essential Job Functions
- Manages the corporate engineering team responsible for identifying, designing, and implementing major capital projects at the manufacturing operations across the US, Canada and Brazil. This includes project engineers, CAD function, and the various disciplines (Mechanical, Civil/structural, and E&I).
- Capital projects will range from $500K to $50MM.
- Works with internal teams (Plant and Corporate Engineering) to develop P&ID’s, conceptual equipment layouts, and equipment lists to develop capital cost estimates.
- Insures capital projects are effectively managed through the Stage Gate / FEL process.
- Takes process design from P&ID’s into detailed engineering packages for bidding and construction utilizing internal and external engineering resources. This includes equipment and vessel specifications, scopes of work, and other documents required for RFQ’s (Request for Quotation).
- Manages the cost estimating function for projects in North America, and assists with capital budgets and capital project cost estimating. Insures that the proper tools and methods are utilized for consistent project costing.
- Works with project engineers to update monthly capital spending forecasts.
- Responsible for engineering drawing management and application of both Engineering Standards and other applicable standards (ASME, NEC, ISO, NFPA).
- Develop accurate project scopes of work by investigating alternatives and recommending the most practical approach.
- Office to be located in Malvern, PA or Joliet, IL. Provide service to other facilities located across North America.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, M.S. preferred.
- 10-15 years of experience in industrial chemical and/or glass plant manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing capital projects in the chemicals and/or glass industry following a Design/Bid/Build or EPC model.
- Ability to drive safety performance with both company employees and contractors on construction projects.
- Familiar with mass balances, P&ID’s, AUTOCAD, equipment lists, equipment layouts.
- Experience with combustion systems, solids handling, liquid chemical transfer operations, rail and truck loading/unloading, mills, baghouses, dryers, automated PLC manufacturing equipment, and packaging equipment.
- Experience in effectively utilizing outside engineering firms to support detailed design efforts.
- Experience with implementing control systems in conjunction with capital projects.
- Must be proficient with Excel, Word, MS Project and other project management tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage capital projects of up to $50 MM.
- Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to interact with operators, vendors, and upper management.
- Requires 40 – 50% travel.
