Seeking a Sample Preparation Technician for a 6 month+ contract position in Lisle, IL.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build/modify/prep connector assemblies, cable assemblies, modules, PC boards, load boards, etc. for various mechanical, environmental, & electrical tests using manual/automated tools and hand soldering equipment/techniques
- Hand soldering of fine wire gauges and small components to printed circuit boards
- Preparation and running of boards through an SMT line
- Nitric and sulfurous acid porosity testing
- Plating thickness measurements
- Visual inspection at various magnifications, picture stitching
- Dimensional measurements with reference to Engineering drawings
- IPC 610 solder joint evaluations
- Work closely with various project leaders to ensure efficient and timely project deliverables to customers
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedure documents to ensure repeatable and reproducible test methods/results
Position Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years’ work experience in a related field; OR an Associate’s degree and 3+ years’ work experience in a related field required
- Proficient with hand soldering equipment/techniques for fine wire gauges and components
- Working knowledge of interconnect systems, twisted pair, coaxial conductors, etc,
- Experience with any of the following wire preparation and termination techniques (crimped, soldered, welded, IDT)
- Proficient in reading and executing test plans
- Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and in a team
- Ability to remain flexible when changes arise
Preferred Requirements:
· IPC-A-610 Certification
· Experience with SMT soldering line
· Experience using lab equipment such as milli/micro-ohmmeter, microscopes, continuity meter, multimeter, etc.
· Troubleshooting skills of interconnect systems to aid in root cause failure analysis
