Seeking to hire a Senior Analytical Scientist for a direct hire opportunity in Gurnee, IL. Will play a critical role in bringing world-changing technologies from the lab to commercialization as well as provide a central technical focus on chemical analytics and general problem-solving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of routine laboratory safety procedures, SDSs, and interpretations of hazards/toxicity data to perform all laboratory work in accordance with the written safety manual and site safety policies. Be a steward for safety and continually drive awareness to ensure a safe work environment for all employees
- Knowledge of chemistry principles to lead and provide direction or general support to the research and development team for products including product formulation and development, process development, competitive analyses, analytical method and technique development, and field process support
- Understand formulation procedures and technologies, relevant literature, and IP information, and incorporate these into new materials or processes that add value to customer products and processes
- Experimental design, data evaluation, generation of scientific, and coordination studies with other technical groups internally and externally
- Write technical papers, and reports, and prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests. Reports should include recommendations for future research and development efforts
- Maintain accurate records of all laboratory work and research in accordance with generally accepted laboratory principles. This is critical to support Intellectual Property portfolio management
- R&D point of contact for process and data automation and related technical initiatives
- Provide technical support to cross-functional groups such as sales and marketing, product stewardship, sustainability, regulatory, technical service, and QC

Position Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry is required
- Professional experience with chromatographic analyses of synthetic organic chemistries is required
- Detail oriented scientist with strong project management skills is essential
- Proficient in commonly used business and scientific applications, including research databases, literature search functions, and statistical design of experiments
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interface with internal and external customers at all levels
Desired Qualifications:
- 5 + years of industrial experience in analytical methods development and testing to support new product and process development, product reformulation, competitive product analyses, and general problem-solving
- Experiences with oleochemicals, alkoxylation, catalyst design, and surface sciences are a plus
- Experience with IP protection, including filing patent applications, is preferred
- Proven track record of effective communication across matrixed organizations, especially with operations, marketing, and regulatory affairs functions
