Seeking a Vice President of Product Development, R&D, and Scientific Affairs for a direct hire opportunity in Valencia, CA. Our client is a premier formulation and product development innovator and manufacturer of dietary supplements and has formulated over 1,000 products for a multitude of dietary supplement categories. This role entails leading Regulatory and Quality initiatives, managing a team to ensure regulatory compliance and product quality, providing expert scientific guidance, and establishing a scientific advisory board to facilitate strategic planning and decision-making for successful product development, manufacturing, and marketing.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of product development, R&D, scientific affairs, and regulatory professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and changes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and industry groups.
  • Establish and maintain quality systems and processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Manage regulatory and quality issues and investigations, including product recalls and complaints.
  • Provide expert scientific advice to internal teams.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to product development, R&D, and regulatory affairs, and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, operations, and sales, to ensure seamless coordination and execution of product development projects.
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for product development, R&D, and regulatory affairs that aligns with the overall business goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept ideation to commercialization, ensuring timely and successful product launches.
  • Drive innovation by identifying new technologies, trends, and market opportunities that can enhance our product portfolio and competitiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of product development, R&D, scientific affairs, and regulatory processes.
  • Develop and implement robust processes and systems to streamline product development and regulatory affairs operations, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners, such as suppliers and contract manufacturers, to ensure the successful execution of product development projects.

Quality Management: This role involves establishing and maintaining a robust quality management system within the organization. The Vice President is responsible for implementing quality control processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards, and monitoring product quality throughout the manufacturing process. They may oversee quality assurance teams, conduct audits, and implement corrective actions to address any quality issues.

Risk Management: This role involves identifying and mitigating risks associated with product development, quality control, and regulatory affairs. The Vice President assesses potential risks, develops risk management strategies, and implements processes to minimize the impact of risks on product quality and regulatory compliance.

Leadership and Team Management: The Vice President provides leadership and guidance to the product development, quality, and regulatory affairs teams. They mentor and develop team members, set performance goals, and ensure effective resource allocation. They also foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the department.

Cross-functional Collaboration: The Vice President collaborates with various internal stakeholders, including engineering, marketing, operations, manufacturing, legal, and sales teams. They facilitate effective communication and alignment between different departments to ensure product development goals, quality objectives, Scientific affairs, and regulatory compliance are met.
